AOC is a ‘pompous little twit’ with a ‘silly’ climate plan, says Greenpeace co-founder

One of the co-founders of Greenpeace on Tuesday rejected the climate alarmism of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other Democrats, and accused them of proposing a “silly” plan to solve it.

Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., has offered the Green New Deal to reshape the U.S. economy into a green economy. But Patrick Moore, one of the original founders of Greenpeace, called her expensive plan “silly” and repeated his claim that she is a “pompous little twit.”

“It’s a silly plan. That’s why I suggested she was a pompous little twit. Twit meaning silly in the British lexicon and pompous meaning arrogant,” he said on Fox News.

Ocasio-Cortez has said publicly that she is the “boss” on climate now, since no one else is tackling it. But Moore rejected that suggestion.

“She really rubbed me the wrong way when she said she is the boss, because she can make up a proposal that’s completely ridiculous,” he said.

“There is no climate crisis,” Moore said. “There is weather and climate all around the world, and in fact, carbon dioxide is the main building block of all life.”

He said climate change is real, but said it’s “not made by people.”

“Climate change is a perfectly natural phenomenon, and this modern warm period actually began 300 years ago when the Little Ice Age began to come to an end,” he said.

“There is nothing to be afraid of, and that’s all they’re doing is instilling fear,” Moore added.

Moore said people don’t understand enough about climate science, and said carbon dioxide is a necessary component of life on Earth.

“This is fake science and it is driving a very dangerous movement on the energy front,” he said.

Moore also dismissed the warnings from his former group and others like Ocasio-Cortez, who said the climate will become inhospitable to human life in about 12 years. “Most of the scientists who are saying it’s a crisis are on perpetual government grants,” he said.

“On one hand, they say the science is settled and people like myself should just shut up because they know what’s right,” Moore added. “On the other hand, they seem to keep studying forever as if there’s something new to find out. And those two things are completely contradictory.”

Moore long ago broke with Greenpeace, which stressed he has nothing to do with the organization. “He does not represent Greenpeace. He is a paid lobbyist, not an independent source,” the group said Tuesday.

Moore said Greenpeace was a science-based organization when he started it, but then it was taken over by the Left.

“We were hijacked by the extreme left, who basically took Greenpeace from a science-based organization, to an organization based on sensationalism, misinformation and fear,” he said.

Moore has been in some public scrapes with Democrats lately. Monday night, Moore tweeted back at Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., after she warned that “climate change is happening.”

“Earth has survived Ice Ages, massive asteroid impacts and extinctions, continents colliding & volcanoes building massive mountain ranges,” he wrote. “And CO2, the food for all life, is a ‘threat to the planet.’ Not likely.”
